Homeopathy to support the treatment of dental and oral diseases

Contents

It is well known that the condition of teeth, tongue, gums, lips, and salivary glands are also related to the overall health of the body. As dentists at Naturadent, we use and recommend homeopathic remedies to our patients every day, for more successful and natural overcoming of their illnesses and faster recovery.

Dentists committed to natural treatments can confidently use homeopathic preparations, as dental procedures, dental treatments, and the body's regeneration can be excellently supported with the help of homeopathy, with homeopathic remedies.

How does homeopathy work?
The Naturadent colleagues await their patients with a smile.

Homeopathy is essentially a stimulation therapy. The active ingredient, administered in extremely small quantities via homeopathic remedies, mobilises the body's natural defence system, the immune system. Homeopathy is a personalised therapy, treating the symptoms and the patient as a whole. When used correctly, homeopathy is free of side effects and can be recommended for all age groups.

Wisdom tooth problems
Arnica: a useful painkiller and haemostatic for all oral surgery procedures.
Belladonna: characterized by throbbing pain, local swelling and redness, and possibly fever. This remedy is recommended when local inflammation develops due to difficulty with wisdom tooth eruption.
Symphytum officinale: mainly used to promote ossification of the extraction site after extraction of the lower wisdom tooth.

Oral surgery procedures
For oral surgery dental treatments, the role of homeopathic medicine is to reduce bleeding and pain, promote wound healing, and prevent complications.

Arnica's ability to promote healing, reduce bleeding and relieve pain can be used as „pre-treatment” before an intended intervention. In this case, a single dose of medium potency is needed the evening before, repeated on the morning and evening of the surgery. If its use begins after the procedure, medium or possibly high potency is recommended for 2-3-4 days. It is also worth using Arnica in single doses for a few days for injuries, ulcers caused by deep fillings or prostheses.
Hypericum: if there is a lot of pain after surgery, perhaps in cases of trauma with nerve damage, long, difficult, „struggling” tooth extractions.
Hepar sulfuris: for acute suppuration, abscess formation, stabbing pain. Helps the absorption of pus following oral surgery.
Symphytum: our aim is to promote ossification. It is recommended for use during pre-implantation bone grafting.
Staphysagria: to heal cuts and incisions (whether accidental or surgical). Recommended until stitches are removed (about 7-10 days). Also recommended after laser oral surgery.
Ledum: for the treatment of stab wounds and complications caused by injections (bruising), and for after-pains.
Magnesium phosphoricum: jaw joint pain, prolonged procedures, rare muscle cramps during oral surgery.
Rue: it acts on the periosteum. Rue is particularly useful in regenerative surgery for loose teeth, orthodontics, dental implantation, root canal treatment, complaints caused by injections, and bone injuries.

For teething in infants and toddlers
A children's dental treatment is taking place at the Naturadent clinic.

Paediatric dentistry is a very delicate area of dentistry that requires a great deal of attention and care. Particular attention must be paid to how we approach children and how we make dental treatment pleasant for them.

Because we need to make sure that children do not have an experience at the dentist's, and do not leave with an experience that their fears and traumas deter them from attending regular, normal dental treatments and check-ups for decades. Which would prevent toothaches, more serious dental diseases, gingivitis and periodontal disease, which are common diseases.

Dental hygiene advice is the best possible way to teach and practice good dental care for children. If we pay attention to these and seek the help of a paediatric dentist in time, the most common paediatric dental problems could be eliminated very quickly, painlessly and playfully.

Chamomilla: it is needed when an otherwise calm child starts behaving „unbearably” (angry, kicking, shouting), and only calms down when carried in their mother's arms. They sleep poorly, often on the side where a tooth is coming through, and their face turns red. The child's tooth is breaking through with difficulty and slowly. It is often accompanied by greenish diarrhoea.
Rheum: for teething with a strong, sour smelling diarrhoea (the whole child, e.g. sweat, also smells sour).
Mercurius solubilis: very profuse salivation, foul breath, swollen tongue, teeth marks visible on the tongue's surface, inflamed gums. Diarrhoea is a frequent accompanying symptom.
Aethusa: if the young child's teething is characterised by vomiting, cramping pains, restlessness, weakness.

Herpes, afta
Herpes and aphta, which recur regularly, are considered chronic diseases and should be treated by a homeopathic doctor. The following homeopathic remedies may ease or alleviate the symptoms, but they will not prevent the recurrence of the disease!

In the treatment of aphthous stomatitis, or inflammatory lesions of the oral mucosa, it can be important to identify food allergies and establish a more balanced diet, as well as to supplement and regularly take certain vitamins and minerals to strengthen the body's immune system.

Borax: for aphthae, infantile thrush (supplemented with topical treatment) as a primary homeopathic
Hydrastis: if the child has thick, sticky saliva, the tongue has imprints of the teeth, but there is no foul breath.
Mercurius solubilis: primarily for painful, blistering lesions covering the entire oral mucosa (most often caused by a virus), if symptoms include profuse salivation, foul breath, a swollen tongue, and inflamed gums.
Acidum nitricum: For ulcerous lesions on the oral mucosa with a stinging pain and bleeding base.
Kalium bichromicum: Yellow, yellow-green ulcers, metallic taste, capillary bleeding on the tongue. Herpes Apis mellifica: if there is only slight swelling, tingling, or pink discolouration, which is helped by local cold (e.g. an ice cube). If applied in time, the development of large blistering lesions can be prevented.
Rhus toxicodendron: for the vesicular stage of herpes. This stage is already accompanied by pain and itching.
Natrium muriaticum: Primarily effective when herpes is triggered by excessive sun exposure, sea air, or consumption of salty seafood. In cases of small, glass-bead-like blisters accompanied by a burning pain.
Cantharis: for large, contiguous blisters.

Gum disease
A fogágybetegség manapság a népesség 99%-át érinti Magyarországon. Ennek fő oka az elhanyagolt szájhigiénia, de elsősorban (nem számítva a különböző kísérőbetegségeket) fiatalkori formájában jellegzetes egyéni genetikai hajlammal is számolni kell.

Gum disease starts with gingivitis, which can be prevented with regular dental check-ups and tartar removal, and scaling carried out by a dental hygienist.

It's important to know that recent research has suggested that untreated periodontal disease is the cause of some serious conditions, such as heart attacks, cerebrovascular disease, premature birth and the birth of a low birth weight baby.

Causes of periodontal disease
The most important ones, which can be prevented with thorough dental care and regular dental check-ups, are: plaque, tartar, gingivitis, bleeding gums, unremoved food debris, tooth loss, and one-sided chewing.

IMPORTANT! If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of periodontal disease, please seek the help of our dentists and periodontists. Periodontal disease is not a game! You can easily lose your teeth if you don't act in time!

Periodontal disease is more common in men and typically occurs in old age. Genetic and hormonal factors (puberty, pregnancy, menopause, taking contraceptive pills), metabolic diseases (diabetes, thyroid, parathyroid disease), blood disorders, immunological damage, stress, anxiety, smoking, and certain medications (e.g., blood pressure medications) can also contribute to its development.

Homeopathic symptomatic medicines
Mercurius solubilis: for acute inflammation, profuse salivation, perverted taste, foetor ex ore, spongy gums, coated, flabby tongue, pain, tendency to suppuration.
Phosphorus: for chronic inflammation, bleeding, dry mouth, smooth tongue, when there is no bad breath.
Silicea: for chronically recurring suppuration, chronic inflammation, and bone decay.
Potassium carbonicum: for pustular sacs, abundant saliva, bad taste, and mouth odour. The tongue may be pale, coated, and digestive disturbances are also common.
Staphysagria: bleeding is the most prominent symptom (often related to menstruation), no bone loss, many decayed teeth, black tartar, pain even in healthy teeth.
Calcium carbonicum: persistent mild bleeding, sour taste sensation, bad breath, dry mouth.
Arsenicum album: dry, burning mouth, wandering pains in the teeth and jawbones. Thuja: marked periodontitis with mouth ulcers, drug-induced gum swelling, decay at the root of the teeth.

Toothache, severe neuralgic pain
Aconitum: Very strong, intense pain that begins very violently or stormily, and worsens with cold; it is often brought on by cold wind or chilling. Intense fright or shock can also bring on or accompany the symptoms.
Arnica: for deep toothache after filling.
Arsenicum album: burning, stabbing pain, which improves with hot drinks (e.g. sipped in the mouth), poultices, and rest. It arises or worsens at night, around midnight, or with cold effects.
Coffea: for neuralgic toothache. When the pain is very difficult to bear and all other sensory stimuli. Holding iced water in the mouth, sucking on ice cubes can help; warm, hot food/drinks and strong emotional stimuli can worsen the condition.
Hypericum: severe shooting pain after tooth extraction, neuralgia of a tooth or facial nerve with a broken root, very deep filling, complaints during grinding. It is excellent in the relief of injection-induced sensory nerve complaints (numbness, pain), in the relief of oral closure after oral surgery.
Causticum: Facial neuralgia caused by cold wind or emotional shock, possibly with paralytic symptoms, twitching, and visual disturbances. In cases of burning pain.

Jaw joint problems
In the case of jaw joint pain, it is essential to be seen by an orthodontist, where the condition of our patients' teeth is examined to determine whether imbalanced occlusion, bite disorder, malocclusion, clenching or grinding of the teeth are the cause of the jaw joint pain.

Various solutions exist to address these problems, from biostimulation and splint therapy to self-ligating braces.
Magnesium phosphoricum: homeopathic remedy for muscle spasm. When the symptoms are aggravated by cold, fatigue, touch, it is relieved by warmth, pressure, rubbing. It is more characterised by neuralgic, spasmodic facial pain on the right side, mainly occurring at night.
Cuprum metallicum: the second homeopathic antispasmodic agent of choice after the former. It is characterized by a feeling of coldness, cold sweats, cold face, bluish discoloration of the lips.
Rhus toxicodendron: crepitus, clicking, readily dislocating, rigid jaw joint.
Bryonia: for inflammation of the joints where even the slightest movement (e.g. opening the mouth) causes severe pain.
