Removal of inflammation and disinfection of the canals can be done by laser techniques nowadays. Root canal treatment is a conservative dental treatment. There are two options for treating inflammation: we can remove or save the infected tooth by cleaning and disinfecting the canals.
Why is root canal treatment a better option?
- it saves your tooth
- it can preserve the tooth for a long time if oral hygiene is adequate
- throbbing ache can be relieved quickly
- with laser root canal treatment we can clean the canals as thoroughly as possible
With normal root canal treatments, there is a 4-6% chance that the treatment fails, which is a relatively high rate.
If a root canal filling is not successful the tooth will need further treatment (either re-rot treatment or apicoectomy which means the removal of the tip of the root) or needs to be extracted and replaced by an implant. Thanks to technological improvements laser root treatments have a high rate of success.
We use the best techniques to achieve success
Root canal treatments are done with the latest technologies at our surgery. To carry out a successful treatment it is very important to know the accurate length of the canals.
We use the VDW Gold apex locator to measure the canals, an electronic machine that tells the dentist how long the canal is and how close they are to the apex (the tip of the root).
If we don’t use the apex locator, the filling can be too long or too short, resulting in the formation of nodules or re-infection of the tooth. Bacterias in the root canal stress the immune system and can cause spotty hair loss, skin irritations, heart and vascular disease, and kidney disease.
The apex locator can measure the canal without any radiation. After measuring and cleaning the canals we disinfect them with the latest laser technology, Biolase dental laser equipment.
How is the procedure of laser root canal treatment carried out?
Root canal treatment carried out by Biolase Waterlase iPlus is similar to having a laser filling done but with a different laser tip that is long enough to reach the whole length of the canals and therefore able to remove the infected pulp tissue.
The parallel beams of the intensive light clean the canal. Laser treatment disinfects, „melts” bacteria and cleans the canals more effectively than the normal procedure.
Laser root canal treatment takes less time therefore there is no need to spend hours at our surgery and the number of control visits is also minimal due to the efficient cleaning of laser light. Thanks to the new technique the healing process also reduces.
Our laser treatments do not involve the removal of previous fillings and an anesthetic injection is also required in some cases. The different advantages of laser dental treatments are experienced to different extents in different stages of the treatment. We aim to provide treatments without any pain in a calm environment.
