How can metal allergy be recognised?
If you have experienced itching, your skin has become red and inflamed, and in some places even broken out into sores, when wearing metal jewellery or objects, then you most likely have a metal allergy.

We know this feeling; we have already applied completely metal-free treatments for dozens of our patients, with excellent results and zero allergic symptoms. Like any other treatment, orthodontics can also be performed with metal-free orthodontic appliances.

What other allergies can we encounter?
Commonly known allergy types also include pollen and dust allergies. Metal allergy is heard much less often, yet many people suffer from it.

Some people are aware of the symptoms but haven't identified them as a metal allergy, so while they have an allergy, they are unaware of it. We recommend having an allergy test once a year.

Regular check-ups are also recommended because, unfortunately, we can be exposed to very strong toxic, allergenic effects on a daily basis. It's better to recognise and know how to deal with a problem than not to know and suffer the consequences of ignorance afterwards. A dermatologist can easily and simply perform metal allergy testing.

What can you do if you have a metal allergy?
Currently, there is no cure in the medical field for metal allergies. The good news is that there are several options for completely metal-free dental treatments and smile makeovers.

During these treatments, we avoid the allergenic metal as much as possible. We have already carried out completely metal-free treatments for dozens of our patients with excellent results and without allergic symptoms.

Metal-free orthodontics: removable braces
For correctable tooth positions with removable braces, we use appliances made of plastic or silicone. All of these are custom-made under special conditions and produced with professional quality.

Of these, the most modern and aesthetic are Invisalign braces, which are made from deep-drawn, transparent material, custom-made under special conditions. The world-class appliance has an ideal wear time of 20-22 hours.

Metal-free orthodontics: fixed braces
For adult orthodontics, we use fixed porcelain braces, which are metal-free.

For such devices, we order special arcs depending on which metals and alloys you are allergic to. In every case where metal allergy is suspected, we recommend a full dermatological examination before starting treatment. If you already have such an examination, please bring it with you on your next visit.
