Pain-free, sterile, laser tooth drilling
Over 40 years of research proves that the laser removal of decayed tooth matter is far more advantageous than using a traditional, old-fashioned dental drill.
When using a Biolase Waterlase iPlus, it is not necessary to remove healthy tooth structure to remove decay during laser tooth drilling, whereas this is not guaranteed with a conventional drill. In the case of laser removal of tooth decay, only the decayed area is removed, leaving the healthy tooth structure intact.

After laser tooth drilling, a very complex spatial grid and sterile surface remain, onto which a tooth-coloured porcelain filling adheres much better and more durably than was previously possible with traditional turbine drilling.
In addition to a more durable filling, laser dental drilling also has further biological benefits.
Unlike laser light, a traditional drill produces heat and emits vibrations, which cause micro-cracks in the tooth enamel, allowing bacteria and microscopic contaminants to enter the tooth, causing further tooth decay and additional hidden problems.
Furthermore, the heat generated during traditional tooth drilling damages the dentine that forms the inside of the tooth, leading to inflammation and pain, which then necessitates its removal, i.e., root canal treatment.
In contrast, laser dental drilling causes no mechanical damage to healthy tooth material, leaves no invisible cracks afterwards, and gives off no heat, thus protecting the healthy tooth material as much as possible!
A further advantage of laser removal of tooth decay is that when creating the cavity, the dental laser also disinfects the tooth material and the cavity itself without the need for chemical substances, which are fundamentally unnatural and, in many cases, not in harmony with our bodies.
Advantages of laser dentistry: how laser dentistry removes tooth decay

Laser dentistry is excellently suited for replacing under-decayed white fillings, where the laser removes the old filling and only the decayed part of the tooth, thus preserving the remaining healthy tooth structure. Fillings after laser dentistry are much more comfortable for patients. They are much more stable, durable and easier to shape. The healthy tooth structure is preserved as much as possible, and only the decayed, diseased, and unsalvageable area of the tooth is removed.
During our treatments, when traditional drilling is also required, we apply and utilise the benefits of laser surface preparation and disinfection at the end of the treatment. The various benefits of laser dental treatments manifest to different degrees during specific procedures, and in some cases, it may be necessary to use anaesthetic injections.
