Even the smallest ones need attention and care in order to keep them happy and healthy. Pediatric dentistry is one of our most important services. We believe and profess that this is the age when kids can gain positive and supporting experiences at the dentist. Our aim is to provide positive and painless experiences for them. There are no parents who would want their kids to have painful dental treatments in their adulthood. Health education and complex, professional, painless dental treatments are very important at this age.
Why is pediatric dentistry different at our surgery?
We are always more patient and playful with children in order to gain their trust, so they are not scared and happy to cooperate with us. Sometimes kids arrive with previous negative experiences that they gained at other surgeries. In these cases we always try to bring their enthusiasm back.If needed we just have a chat with them and play without doing any treatment (even if it takes 1-2 visits) and when they are ready and agree we start the treatment. They always need to agree that we can have a look at their teeth and treat them otherwise they will not trust us.
We know in what situation children are
We all were kids and many of us have already have their own children. We were also scared and now we know what should have been different. With the best of our knowledge and moder equipment we know how to improve kids’ dental care.
What treatments can kids receive at our surgery?
- full check up and oral hygiene instructions
- decay (caries) removal from decidious and permanent teeth
- painless filling and root canal treatment with laser dental techniques
- simple and extended fissure sealing
- teething pain relief with homeopathic methods and remedies
- treatment of dental trauma (e.g. tooth fracture or damage)
Our always smiling, patient, calm and playful team creates a loving and caring environment for the little ones and if they wish their parents can always stay with them during treatments. The brave ones also get a balloon made of rubber gloves :)
When is it time to take little ones to the dentist?
Decidous (baby) tooth eruption completes at about the age of 2. It is recommended to take the litte ones to the dentist at this age. During these first visits there are no treatments buti it is a googd chance for our kids to get familiar with the environment and the dentist. The dentist has a look at the teeth, checks if there is eruption irregularity and gives oral hygiene instructions to the parents. Parents are also avised about dental problems that can affect kids, for example caries. The most important oral hygiene instructions also get demonstrated to the parents and if it is needed, our dental hygienists can spend time separately to teach everything.
How often do we need to take children to the dentist?
It is recommended to take children to the dentist six monthly. Both the decidious and permanent teeth can decay quite fast. Once decay has started we need to treat the tooth in order to prevent toothache. Thanks to our modern laser dental equipment we can remove decay without any pain and in most cases without injection. Imagine a friendly and playful filling without any tears.
We are looking forward to see you at our surgery!
