Advantages and characteristics for ceramic porcelain, zirconium oxide, porcelain fused to gold crowns and bridges
I. Material:
Ceramic porcelain crown:
100% metal free, the material of the crown is prepared under enormous pressure, leading to an extremely resilient crown.
Zirconium crown:
100% metal free, composed of natural minerals and suitable for dental bridges due to its strong structure.
Prepared through CAD/CAM method: designed and finished with a computer. The zirconium is carved out in 3D by a machine from a zirconium block. Human error is out of the question.
Porcelain fused to gold:
Its stability is guaranteed by the gold skeleton, prepared through galvanization, underneath the porcelain. The plaster model of the prepared tooth is submerged in a bath containing gold solution and thus a thin cap (99.8% gold purity) is created which perfectly fits the tooth.
II. Which teeth is it used for:
Ceramic porcelain crown:
Especially on front teeth
Zirconium crown:
For front teeth and molars, suitable for preparing bridges.
Porcelain fused to gold:
For both incisors and molars, mainly used for preparing solo crowns. As tough as traditional metal crowns.
III. Aesthetics:
Ceramic porcelain crown:
As the entire crown is created from porcelain, its aesthetics is outstanding. The natural hue of the teeth can be reproduced perfectly. Its light permeability capacity is similar to human teeth.
Zirconium crown:
It is much more aesthetic than traditional metal crowns due to its light permeability characteristic. Its hue is similar to that of natural teeth. Because it does not contain metal, no black edges will appear on the side of the tooth after prepration.
Porcelain fused to gold:
Since the porcelain fused unto the gold cap is thicker, an outstanding aesthetical result can be achieved. The light permeability of the golden cap is similar to that of living enamel, making a life like result possible.
IV. In case of teeth that have undergone endodontic treatment:
Ceramic porcelain:
In case of slightly discolored teeth, it suitably masks the discoloring, but in case of strongly discolored teeth, the teeth need to be whitened before crown fixing.
Zirconium crown:
In case of slightly discolored teeth, it suitably masks the discoloring, but in case of strongly discolored teeth, the teeth need to be whitened before crown fixing.
Porcelain fused to gold:
May be applied without whitening, even in case of strongly discolored teeth.
V. Further benefits:
Ceramic porcelain:
Significantly less (0.7-1 mm) material needs to be removed for its preparation, thus the likeliness of damage to the pulp is minimal. The ceramic is 100% metal free, meaning it is biocompatible with no negative effects on the organism.
Completely anti-allergen.
Closes perfectly and precisely fits the prepared tooth.
We perform laser based cavity disinfection at NaturaDENT before fixture, meaning we remove the possibly present bacteria from the crown cavity, decreasing the chance of secondary decay.
Zirconium:
Does not cause allergies. Metal free, does not generate adverse reactions.
Since it does not conduct heat, hypersensitivity to cold or heat is not present, which is the case for traditional metal crowns.
We perform laser based cavity disinfection at NaturaDENT before fixture, meaning we remove the possibly present bacteria from the crown cavity, decreasing the chance of secondary decay.
Porcelain fused to gold:
It is dentin friendly, making tooth damage less likely.
Precise, excellently fits the prepared tooth, making secondary decay less likely.
Durable, cracking and breaking are not characteristic.
Because of the preparation, there will be no dark gum edges, nor will there be any damage to the gums as in case of traditional metal crowns.
Gold has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and bacteriostatic effects, preventing engraftment of bacteria along the sides of the crown. Thus the likeliness of secondary decay, gingival retraction and appearance of periodontal pockets is decreased.
Does not contain additives, minimizing the likeliness of allergic reactions.
We perform laser based cavity disinfection at NaturaDENT before fixture, meaning we remove the possibly present bacteria from the crown cavity, decreasing the chance of secondary decay.
Another important aspect is, that until preparation of your tooth replacement, you will not stay without teeth: our doctors will provide the treated tooth with temporary crowns in all cases.
We welcome you at our clinic!
