In reality, however, we can speak of two entirely different processes or stages, which are now well-treatable conditions, but it is important to recognise them in time.<\/p>\n<p>As untreated or late-diagnosed gum problems can even lead to tooth loss, it is essential to recognise and properly treat both conditions in a timely manner, because while inflammation can still be effectively healed, gum recession is a more complex task.<\/p>\n<p>What exactly is the difference between receding gums and gingivitis? How can this condition even be treated and prevented? You'll find out in our article!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h2-1\">What is gingivitis?<\/h2>\n<p>Gingivitis marks the earliest stage of periodontal disease, where the surface of the gums typically becomes inflamed due to the accumulation of plaque and tartar, along with the bacteria that settle on them, causing the gums to turn reddish and sensitive.<\/p>\n<p>It is very important that the inflammation is still a reversible condition. If the patient seeks dental help in time, the right treatment - in many cases, it is enough just to<a href=\"https:\/\/naturadent.hu\/en\/szolgaltatasok\/fogko-eltavolitas\/\">tartar removal<\/a>- and oral hygiene, it will heal without problems.<\/p>\n<p>However, without treatment, gingivitis can not only cause a great deal of discomfort but can also lead to the development of more serious gum diseases, which can even result in tooth loss.<\/p>\n<p>It is a particularly common dental problem that, according to statistics, affects nearly half of adults over 30 years of age on a regular or recurrent basis.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h2-2\">Symptoms of gum inflammation<\/h2>\n<p>Gum disease is particularly dangerous because in its early stages it often causes no symptoms at all, or insufficient ones for the patient to seek dental treatment in good time.<\/p>\n<p>The most typical symptoms of gingivitis are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Reddish lesions and swelling of the gums in the affected area.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Bleeding from the gums, especially after brushing.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Bad breath that does not subside even after brushing.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Tooth sensitivity when eating hot or cold foods and drinks.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Tenderness or pain when chewing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"h2-3\">Causes of gingivitis<\/h2>\n<p>Gingivitis is a natural reaction of the human body, caused in the vast majority of cases by poor oral hygiene.<\/p>\n<p>If plaque is not properly removed from the teeth and tartar build-up develops, the gums become severely irritated, red and swollen.<\/p>\n<p>Besides insufficient oral hygiene, the following conditions can cause gingivitis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Crooked or congested teeth that are difficult to clean properly. By following the advice below, for example, we can do a lot to prevent their development:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Ensure proper oral hygiene and brush your teeth at least twice a day (after waking up and before going to bed), gently yet effectively and thoroughly.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">In addition to brushing your teeth, it is recommended to use dental floss and interdental brushes to remove bacteria from the smallest gaps.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Let's quit smoking and avoid the use of other tobacco products.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Let's limit alcohol consumption and avoid drinks and foods that are too high in sugar.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Let's treat those conditions that can negatively impact oral health.
