Direct shell types<\/p>\n
Basically, direct peel can be divided into three major groups, so we can talk about partial, full and no sanding solutions.<\/p>\n
Partial direct veneers are only applied to part of the tooth surface. In this case, there is very minimal abrasion of the tooth material, as the majority of the tooth is still made up of enamel, which is only added to the shell.<\/p>\n
A full direct shell, on the other hand, covers the entire tooth surface from the visible side, as this type of shell never grips the tooth like a crown.<\/p>\n

Discoloured teeth<\/p>\n
Direct veneers, which cover the entire visible tooth surface, are very often used on teeth that are discoloured for some reason and cannot be restored even by whitening.<\/p>\n
Teeth can already erupt with defects (for example, in cases of fluorosis), but they can also become discoloured later after pulp death or root canal treatment. Even laser teeth whitening cannot rectify such problems.<\/p>\n
The surface of the tooth may become discoloured in patches or even completely, and the shade can be yellowish, brownish, greyish or even reddish. Direct veneers can be a quick, long-lasting and very impressive help.<\/p>\n
Tooth misalignment, irregularly positioned teeth <\/p>\n
Although not an orthodontic technique, the direct shell is also very useful in cases where there is tooth crowding in the oral cavity or where the position of some teeth becomes irregular, i.e. they are tilted outwards or inwards, or twisted around their axis.<\/p>\n

Preparing the direct shell step-by-step<\/p>\n
Although direct peel is much easier and quicker to make than, for example, crowns, there is still a process that cannot be interchanged or skipped for a perfect result.<\/p>\n
The procedure usually begins with a preliminary consultation, where the dentist examines the patient's teeth to assess their condition and any associated changes.<\/p>\n
This is because other interventions may be necessary before applying direct veneers. However, the condition of the teeth must be checked in all cases.<\/p>\n
If only a direct filling is required, local anaesthesia is not justified. However, it is common for a tooth to be sensitive, or for an old filling to need replacing, which naturally makes the use of anaesthesia essential.<\/p>\n
