If you are considering dental implants and have started gathering information about the procedure, you will have certainly come across the term peri-implantitis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Peri-implantitis is inflammation of the soft tissues and bone loss around a dental implant.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The literal meaning of peri-implantitis is none other than\u00a0peri-implantitis<\/strong>. Bacteria can multiply on the surface of an improperly cleaned implant and cause inflammation in the area around the implant.<\/p>\n

In the initial phase, the gum around the implant becomes reddish, often bleeding. If only the gum is affected, the problem is easier to treat. A bigger issue arises when the inflammation spreads to the bone tissue around the implant and\u00a0causes a decrease in bone tissue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Milyen m\u00f3don lehet megel\u0151zni a peri-implantitiszt?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To prevent peri-implantitis, the most important thing is careful and thorough cleaning of the implant.\u00a0Scientific studies<\/a>\u00a0however, it has been proven that a certain\u00a0caused by bacteria\u00a0<\/strong>most often inflammation, the presence of which in the body can be attributed to genetic causes.<\/p>\n

This is why, in certain cases, inflammation can occur despite a well-placed implant and proper oral hygiene.<\/p>\n

Why is it necessary to treat peri-implantitis as soon as possible?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Inflammation around the implant without treatment\u00a0Acts as a goalkeeper<\/strong>\u00a0in our body, it can also cause systemic diseases (e.g. atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, premature birth in women). Inflamed gums cause the implanted tooth to loosen, which sooner or later\u00a0may lead to the loss of the implanted implant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What are the treatment options?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Clinical research regarding treatment options is ongoing, but there is currently no universally acknowledged, protocol-like therapeutic recommendation within the profession for\u00a0peri-implantitis<\/a>\u00a0treatment.<\/p>\n

The essence of the treatment in all cases is the removal of the bacterial flora causing the inflammation, the elimination of the inflammation, and the\u00a0complete cleaning of the implant<\/strong>. In the treatment of peri-implantitis, antibiotic therapy alone is not sufficient; antibiotics can only be used as adjunctive therapy.<\/p>\n
