Mouth ulcers are tiny, primarily white blisters or sores that mostly appear on the mucous membranes, inside the mouth, but can also occur on the tongue, cheeks, throat area or palate. These seemingly harmless little lesions, however,\u00a0They can cause extremely unpleasant symptoms<\/strong>, They can also make everyday activities such as eating and drinking, speaking and smiling painful.<\/p>\n

In our article, we will present the treatment methods available to gently get rid of mouth ulcers, as well as explain how to prevent their recurrence.<\/p>\n

Aphthous ulcers (or by their medical name, recurrent aphthous stomatitis) are a remarkably common oral disease, characterised by the appearance of painful ulcers on the soft tissues inside the mouth.<\/p>\n

They typically have a round or oval shape, and due to their crater-like appearance, reddened, inflamed edges are accompanied by whitish-yellowish inner parts. They most often occur on their own, but in more severe cases, several may occur at once.<\/p>\n

As it causes very unpleasant symptoms, it is difficult to go unnoticed, as it can strongly interfere with eating, drinking, and even speaking.<\/p>\n

Which symptoms are characteristic of mouth ulcers?<\/h2>\n

Before the visible appearance of a mouth ulcer, an itching or tingling sensation is often felt in the affected area, but they can also develop without any warning signs, completely unnoticed. A mouth ulcer is a small, yellowish-white, rarely greyish ulcer on the mucous membrane of the mouth, surrounded by dark red inflammation.<\/p>\n

In terms of size, they can range from a few millimetres to even 2-3 centimetres, and can cause extremely unpleasant symptoms. It primarily makes eating and drinking difficult, but can even make speaking and articulation painful. In children, it can be accompanied by general malaise, swollen lymph nodes, and even a slight fever and fever.\u00a0There are three types of mouth ulcers that can be distinguished.<\/strong>, The symptoms and treatment of individual types can also vary.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0after the minors<\/strong>, also known as Mikulicz aphthae, is the most common type, occurring in both children and adults of all ages.\u00a0It can appear on the inner surface of the lips, the palate, the tongue, the gums, or the oral mucosa.<\/strong>\u00a0This type is generally a few millimetres in size and heals relatively quickly on its own.<\/p>\n

When a minor aphthous ulcer starts to grow, and reaches a size of 5-6 mm, it is called\u00a0after the major<\/strong>, or, in other words, Sutton's type arises. This type, therefore, only differs in size from the previous one, its appearance and occurrence being the same as Mikulicz's aphthae. However, its size can grow up to 2-3 centimetres, affecting deeper tissues, causing larger epithelial defects and inflammation. It can cause extremely unpleasant symptoms,\u00a0It can make eating and speaking difficult, and the inflammation can also cause continuous pain<\/strong>. This form of aphthae\u00a0It's difficult to heal by itself.<\/strong>, which can take several months, therefore medical treatment is recommended.<\/p>\n

They heal relatively quickly, within a few days, even without treatment, but they can reappear recurrently, sometimes on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n
